How much hurt I must have caused my mother. The reason for this estrangement was the seeds I had planted over the decades. Now that I’ve heard all about what she was feeling, I understand that it was only natural that she felt that way. As someone who loved her, it’s still a shock, but I’m going to accept it little by little and reflect on it.
For now, I’ll just leave my mother alone. That’s the only way I can show my filial piety. And to make up for what I couldn’t do for my mother, I’ll cherish my husband and daughter. I’ll protect the most precious family in the world with compassion. That’s what I vowed to myself.
