I appreciate the desire to dote on my grandchild. But I want them to understand my feelings of anxiety. Instead of suddenly “looking after the child for one night,” I would like to start by building a relationship of trust between the grandparents and grandchild, and between my parents-in-law and my daughter-in-law.
