I am Akina in my 40s. I live with my husband Ryuhei, who is also in his 40s, and our 10-year-old daughter Kana. My in-laws’ house is about a two-hour drive away, and my mother-in-law, who is in her 70s, lives there alone.
My mother-in-law’s hobby is reading newspapers. Ever since my husband and I got married, she has been clipping out articles she likes and sending them to me. However, the frequency and content of her messages are nothing but a burden to me. It would be fine if she was just satisfied reading them, but she keeps dragging me into her affairs.
During my maternity leave, I had plenty of free time, and there were many articles that were helpful for a new mom. So there was a time when I enjoyed sending my thoughts. Looking back, I wonder if that was not a good thing.
The articles that were sent to me around the time my daughter was born were about enjoying childcare, but they gradually started to become more depressing, which is also what makes me depressed. I think they will probably keep sending me articles until I clearly tell them not to send them. This is truly a nuisance.
