This happened a few years ago.
I’m Megumi Nishida, a mom of two. I’m married to Atsushi, and we live near his parents. My father-in-law was very old-school—the classic domineering husband type.

Losing someone you love is a kind of sadness I can only imagine for now. I’m sure it feels like there’s a hole in your heart. It’s not something that gets filled by “something else”—maybe it’s something only time can slowly ease… or so I thought.
The life my in-laws shared as husband and wife is something we can’t truly measure from the outside. I know it must be hard for her to move on emotionally, but I really want us to treat my mother-in-law’s feelings with care. I decided then that I’d help in any way I could.
