I’m Anna. At 23, I married my childhood sweetheart. I always remembered my mother-in-law being so incredibly sweet to me when I was little. But then we were told she was sick and that nobody knew how many years she had left… Hearing that, I made up my mind to go through with the marriage, wanting to do it for the mother-in-law I adored. However, once the wedding was officially set and I went from being “the sweet girl next door” to “part of the family,” her kind demeanor vanished. Or maybe it’s more accurate to say she finally showed her true colors. Ever since, she’s constantly done things that leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Back when we got married, they told us she didn’t have much time left because of her illness, but from where I’m standing, she’s been living it up and looking perfectly fine. On top of that, maybe because she’s using the “living with no regrets” excuse, she completely forces her way through with absolutely anything she wants to do. She doesn’t give a damn about anyone else’s feelings and acts like it’s a given that everyone should just cater to her.
Both my father-in-law and my husband are totally whipped and do whatever she says, granting her every little whim. I get where they’re coming from, but come on—there’s a limit to what’s reasonable, right?
