I’m Kaori (46). My husband Yuichi (46) and I have raised two kids together. Both our daughter and son are all grown up now and loving their student lives. That’s when my husband told me, “I want to get back into ballroom dancing.” It seems a big part of it was my mother-in-law urging him to eventually take over the family studio. I already knew his parents were ballroom instructors, so I had no reason to stand in his way.

My husband heads out for ballroom practice every weekend. On Fridays, he goes straight from work to the studio and stays the night. He comes back home Saturday afternoon for a bit, but then he leaves again in the evening and stays over through Sunday…
I don’t know much about ballroom dancing, but I’ve never heard of anyone staying overnight just for a hobby lesson. It’s not like he’s practicing all night long, so why can’t he just take the last train home and head back in the morning? I get that he’s working hard, but does he really need to stay over this often?
