I’m Kaori (46). My husband Yuichi (46) was asked by his parents, who are ballroom dance instructors, to eventually take over their studio. Before long, he started spending nights at the studio claiming he needed to practice. But it turns out his new dance partner is his ex-girlfriend, Suzuka. Unable to shake my anxiety, I walked into the studio at 1:00 AM… only to find my husband and Suzuka in comfy loungewear, drinking beer together. To top it off, there was a double futon in the corner. What on earth is going on here?!
The more I think about my husband’s behavior, the more absurd it feels. Having drinks alone with Suzuka late at night, hanging out in loungewear behind closed doors with a double futon laid out… and walking Suzuka home while completely ignoring me, his own wife.
I was treated like an outsider and kicked out of the studio. I guess he thinks anyone who doesn’t understand ballroom dancing should just keep their mouth shut. I get that a dance partner is important. But are they really supposed to spend time glued to each other like this?
