I’m Yuo, 26, married for two years and currently pregnant. My husband Kazuki (27) is my high school senior and also my sister Mina’s classmate. Back then, I was in the art club, while Kazuki and Mina were in the tennis club. Through my sister, I became close with the tennis club members, and we still have annual reunions. I was looking forward to this year’s get-together too, but Mina got upset, saying, “Stop inserting yourself into my circle of friends.” I’ve been reflecting, but I honestly don’t see what I did wrong.

I didn’t think I was in the wrong, even after arguing with my sister or looking back on high school. But then I realized this reunion might have been special for her—maybe it was also to celebrate her engagement. While I was excited, she might have been looking forward to it even more. Thinking about that made my chest tighten. I started to regret not considering her feelings and situation more.
