Even when Hozumi complained, I couldn’t help thinking, “It’s only once a month.” Maya loves playing with Ruki, so I felt Hozumi should welcome her with open arms. I honestly thought Hozumi was making a big deal out of nothing and being a bit narrow-minded.
My perspective completely shifted, though, after Minato came over. Having someone else in the house relentlessly ruined my weekend free time. Whether I tried to watch videos or catch a baseball game on TV, there was just no way to relax. On top of that, I got dragged into drinking with him until 11 p.m.
Deep down, I knew Minato meant no harm… which only made it harder as I sat there, desperately fighting off sleep.
