No matter how many times I reached out, my sister-in-law wouldn’t answer. Meanwhile, the clock was ticking closer and closer to pick-up time. To make matters worse, today was the hottest day of the year. Walking all that way while carrying Cocoa in my arms—without even a baby carrier—just wasn’t an option.
The thought of something happening to Sakura in this extreme heat terrified me. Left with no other choice, I made the call to leave Cocoa at home. After double-checking that the room was completely safe, I sprinted off at full speed to pick up Sakura.
