Tsuyoshi was reflecting on his actions on his own, without me having to say anything. Caring for a family member is difficult. Not everyone can immediately enter a facility, and even if a biological child is there to provide support, the burden falls on the family. You never know what the right answer is, and the only way to deal with a situation is to talk it over together as a family and find your own answer.
But our family did not have enough of these discussions. Both Tsuyoshi and I prioritized our own feelings and were not able to protect the feelings of our children, which was the most important thing. I want to make sure that I never make the same mistake again, and this time I will be more sympathetic to my children’s feelings.
