I’m Shinji. I live with my wife, Suzuko, and our two sons. My father recently passed away, leaving my mother to live alone. She kept saying she was lonely, and I felt sorry for her, so I agreed when she suggested that we live together. Suzuko complained at first, but I managed to convince her in the end. However, even after we started living together, she hasn’t stopped grumbling. I wish she’d try to get along—this situation is giving me a headache.

When I saw my wife yelling “Get out!” at my mother, I honestly felt disappointed in her. We started living together because my mother was lonely—how could she say something so cruel? And her reason was just that my mother broke the “don’t enter our bedroom” rule. She’s family; can’t my wife be a little more forgiving? In the end, my wife said, “If your mother doesn’t leave, I will,” and she really moved out. Before long, even our sons left too.
