I’m Aine. I was bullied in junior high, and for a long time those scars just stayed buried in my heart. My husband Hiroki was the one who promised to understand me and asked me to marry him. But after more than a decade, every time I made a mistake, Hiroki started saying things like, “See, this is why you got bullied.” Then one day my son Yu (8th grade) and daughter Niina (7th grade) stood up to him: “That’s why you get disliked!” they told Hiroki, defending me. I realized I must become strong too.

He mocked my past bullying, ignored me when I pleaded with him to stop, and even involved our children… I can’t just forgive all of that. Why did I let someone like this say whatever he wanted? Since Hiroki vowed to change, I postponed divorce—for now. But I made it clear: there will be no next chance.
Since then, Hiroki hasn’t said anything to bring me down once. I was betrayed once—but if Hiroki is truly changing… I want to believe the kind man who proposed to me all those years ago is the real Hiroki.
