I’m Ayumi. I live with my husband, Kazuma, and our three kids — 3rd grade, 1st grade, and preschool. We’re a family of five. His parents live about an hour away by car, so we visit every now and then. Kazuma is the middle of three siblings — his older brother Kosuke, and his younger sister Sanae. And let me just say it… I cannot stand my brother-in-law.
When things don’t go their way, he and his wife explode in anger and bombard everyone with complaints. After a huge blow-up around the time our third child was born, I decided I would never deal with them again. Ever.

Since then, we’ve always planned our trips to my in-laws’ house so our visits wouldn’t overlap with Kosuke’s. Thanks to that, we hadn’t seen them in years. But then… my father-in-law invited Kosuke without telling us. Just casually said, “I already asked Kosuke and Sanae to come too,” like it was nothing.
I froze. The trip I planned for just us and my in-laws — and now Kosuke’s entire family and Sanae are coming too?! How does that make sense?! The room only fits eight people, and we already have seven with just our family plus my in-laws. My brain couldn’t keep up with how recklessly my father-in-law acted.
