I’m Maki (26). I’m single, but I’m kind of living together with my boyfriend, Tsubasa (26). I lost my parents before I turned twenty, so the only family I have left is my older brother. He’s married and lives with his family at our childhood home. I get along well with my sister-in-law, Akane, so I visit pretty often. Tsubasa and I promised to get married once we’ve saved enough money, so every time I go home, I bring back groceries and daily necessities. But when I pointed out that Tsubasa never brings anything back from his own parents’ house, I ended up being the one lectured instead.
It turns out Tsubasa had felt for a long time that I was being pushy. He said that even if people say it’s fine, taking things without saying anything is bad manners. I was honestly shocked.
Then Tsubasa left, and I completely panicked. I didn’t know what to do, so I turned to my brother and Akane for help. I asked them to listen to me, but it seemed Akane felt the same way as Tsubasa. Like him, she pointed out how careless and thoughtless my way of thinking had been.
