I’m Miharu. I live with my husband, Tomoya, and our six-month-old daughter, Chieri. Tomoya is obsessed with “self-improvement”—you know, daily skincare routines, hitting the gym, the whole nine yards. Meanwhile, I can’t even find the time for a decent shower, let alone a trip to the salon. Then one day, my in-laws came to visit from out of town. She scolded him and made it clear that he’s the one who needs to make sure I get some downtime. Her powerful words were such a lifeline for my exhausted soul. Things he wouldn’t hear coming from me, he’ll actually have to take seriously now that they’re coming from his own mother. No matter how much he polishes his looks to be a “cool dad,” it’s all for nothing if his family ends up resenting him. I truly hope this serves as a wake-up call for him to change.
