I’m Emi. My husband Ryo and I just started our new life living with his parents. Our plan is to eventually build our own home, so we figured we’d move in with them first to save up some money. Ever since the wedding was set, my in-laws and his grandmother have been so incredibly sweet to me. Whenever we’d visit, they’d offer me treats or give me little gifts… I really thought we’d all get along great once we moved in. But now that we’re actually living under the same roof…?
My husband and I don’t plan on staying here forever. We talked it over and thought, “Maybe living together at first is a smart move financially,” and we started this journey feeling pretty optimistic. His parents and grandma seemed like such lovely people, so I felt totally at ease. But I never could have imagined that my mother-in-law and grandmother-in-law got along this poorly! And even though my mother-in-law originally told me she wanted a great relationship with me because she had it so rough with Grandma, her attitude has slowly started to shift. Now that a few months have passed and we’ve settled in, she’s started throwing complaints and petty remarks my way without a second thought.
