I’m Marie, living with my husband Shingo and our two sons. During the few days I was isolated in our bedroom with a bug, I lay in bed quietly listening to the sounds of the house. Remembering how my husband used to play dumb whenever I needed a hand, I wondered how he was really feeling as he faced the chores and parenting alone.

He learned firsthand how hard it is to manage the house and kids alone for days, and he faced the harsh reality that our oldest son didn’t trust him. On top of that, he apologized and thanked me—he looked completely different from the man he used to be.
He’s trying to step up as a true member of this family again—and that change means more to me than anything.
