A 30-year-old grandma? No way![Episode7]

I was left to raise Kira, my husband Jin’s 2-year-old grandson from a previous marriage, after Kira’s mother left due to burnout. His father, Asuka, is still a college student, so I’ve been caring for Kira alone. When I told Jin I wanted a child of my own, he ignored me. Eventually, the emotional burden became too much, and I left home. Though I had been estranged from my parents since my marriage, they welcomed me back and told me, “You should get a divorce and come home.”

“I’m sorry, Kira. I cared for you, but I couldn’t be your mother.”

Asuka and Jin looked at me with sad, uncertain eyes as I walked away. I’ve returned to my parents’ home and will start the divorce process. It still hurts to think of the three I left behind—but I don’t need to carry everyone’s burdens. Maybe one day, I’ll find love again. For now, I quietly reflect on those two years with Kira. Were they good or painful memories?

I’m not sure yet.
