I’m Anna. I married my childhood friend when I was 23. My husband and I have been in each other’s lives since preschool. Our parents were close, too, so our families used to go on all kinds of trips together. We stayed together all the way through high school, but then went our separate ways for college. We eventually reconnected at our Coming-of-Age Ceremony, which led us to marriage. I always remember my mother-in-law being incredibly sweet to me when I was little. I used to think, “I am so blessed to have such a wonderful mother-in-law.”
Since we just started working, we don’t have a ton of cash to burn. But deep down, I’d always dreamed of a classy wedding at a historic hotel. With my mother-in-law chipping in a million yen, it actually brings that dream within our budget. Having such a generous mother-in-law makes me feel like the luckiest girl alive.
When we first found out she was sick, I wanted to be there to support my worried husband, and I was ready to do whatever it took for her. That’s just how much I loved her. She cherished me too, and I truly believed that would never change… I really did.
