11 PM… She’s Still Not Home[Episode5]

I’m Hozumi. I live with my husband, Kyota, and our first-grade son, Ruki. Since we both work full-time, our weekends are precious time off. Lately, though, my sister-in-law Maya has been coming over once a month and overstaying her welcome until 11 p.m., throwing off our routine and driving me crazy with stress. Since Kyota wouldn’t take me seriously, I asked my younger brother Minato to drop by and stay until 11 p.m. instead… Did Kyota finally get how I feel having Maya overstay her welcome?

When he realized I was just throwing his own words back at him—”Ruki’s having fun, so what’s the big deal?” and “It’s only once a month, don’t be like that”—he genuinely seemed to regret it.

After having his day completely derailed by Minato until late at night, Kyota was totally worn out. I’m sure he finally understands the tension of having someone else in your house all day and the frustration of waiting for a guest to leave.

I told him that at most, she should only stay for either lunch or dinner, and that she needs to leave by 9 p.m. when we put Ruki to bed. I’m so relieved to finally feel like this problem is getting solved.
