I’m Suzuko. After my father-in-law passed away, my mother-in-law moved in with us. We started living together under three simple rules — but she completely ignored them. When I found out she had gone through the drawer where I keep my underwear, I was furious. I yelled at her in anger… and somehow I ended up being blamed by everyone in the family. Even though it was my mother-in-law who broke the rules. I finally said I wanted to end this living arrangement — and then she burst into tears.

I told them, “She broke the rules, so this living arrangement is over!” My mother-in-law started crying, and my husband just panicked and said nothing useful. To make things worse, he even asked me to “get along somehow.” That was the last straw—I decided to leave the house myself. I’m worried about the kids, but they’re in middle and high school now, and with their father there, they’ll manage. Besides, they can always reach out to me if they need help. For now, I’ve decided to live apart.
