I’m Seina. My husband Kippei and I are raising our two elementary schoolers, Daigo and Ran. One day, my sister’s husband, Rintaro, took all their money and ran off with his mistress, leaving behind my chronically ill sister and their two daughters. Since she’s unable to work while recovering, she asked me to raise her girls for her. But we have our own kids to think about. Looking at our future, there was just no way we could take them in. My sister was terrified that Rintaro’s parents would take her daughters away and refused to call them, but for the sake of the girls’ future, she finally agreed to reach out.
Since then, Rintaro’s parents have kept their word and are fully supporting my sister and the girls. My nieces have been helping out a ton around the house, too—every time I visit, the place is spotless. My sister’s mind is finally at ease, and her health is reportedly improving bit by bit. She’s leaving the search for Rintaro to his parents and focusing entirely on her own life for now. Seeing her peaceful smile makes me feel so much better.
